Here are some fun stories of our wonderful pugs:
Our new pug Floyd!- After we had Floyd for a bit we took him to Grandma's. Floyd is an over eater. Always will be. We didn't truly find this out until we realized he was gone for too long at Grandma's. We were up in the kitchen and he went downstairs to where the other dogs sleep...and eat. He found it. The goldmine of doggy food. Debby has 4 little dogs that space their eating. Floyd ate 4 days worth of dog food. His belly was hard and round as a rock. By the time we got home he whined the rest of the night for water. Debby made sure to let us know NOT to give him any b/c this would cause his food to expand and kill him. The poor pup cried all night. Debby now puts away the dog food every time we come over :)
An old story I had already written about- Bruce proving his name. Bruce Wayne Nielsen, aka- Batman. At 2 am one morning when Baca took him out he couldn't see and took a dive off the ledge. We thought he was going to be retarded for the rest of his life. I couldn't go back to sleep I was so troubled! I just stayed up and cried till 5 am that morning!
Let's get them a treat- I wanted to get something both Bruce and Floyd could chew on b/c Floyd is a hardcore chewing machine. B and I went to the store to find these delicious looking chewy bones. About an hour after we gave it to them Floyd had already eaten most of his bone and Bruce hadn't even made a dent. It was very cute when we looked at them and they had the crap all over their faces. I cleaned off Floyd's face but forgot to clean off Bruce's due to the fact it was so cute. Sadly, the next day we come to find leaky poo all over our bedroom (Floyd sleeps with us and woke up before us) and Floyd in front of the door sleeping. We came out to look at Bruce and the kennel he was in was now a poop pool. They had diareah for another 3 days!!! Then, to top it all off I tried to remove the dried gunk from Bruce's whiskers and actually pulled some of them out!! I felt so bad for the babe I had to work a damp cloth on them for a while, it was shear torture for the pug! That is the last time I get the tasty looking treats!
Last but not least- The Sock. After a previous incident with one of Grandma's braided toys, we had to watch Floyd and his old man chewing habits (he would sit and chew on a corner of a toy for hours) He had finally chewed an end off the braided toy and ate it. The next day he was so lathargic we thought he was dying. We also thought he ate the whole toy (we found it though!). After hours of pain for the pug he finally pooped it out. NOW- the sock on the other hand was one of Baca's thin black socks. We tied a knot in it and let them play tug of war. The other night I saw Floyd was under the coffee table and saw only one end of the sock coming out of his mouth. I quickly told Baca to get the sock from him knowing it was almost gone. It was like slow motion. Baca pulled it out and as he saw how deep he had it down his throat he gagged a little. Poor Floyd had the same reaction! It was a long sock and he almost had all eaten! We buy toys for BIIIIIG dogs now!
