Awesomeness
As many of you know, it has been a stressful and hard month. I had just gotten laid off at Latitude and Rock City didn't last long (too slow). I had a great interview with a small company called Cleen Water and Beehive Plumbing (interesting combo eh?). It was another small company with family and friends and I really like that atmosphere. After I finished the interview, I got a call about 15 min later with Tom (the boss) asking if I can come in tomorrow. I then stopped by Latitude to drop off tools and visit Brooke (today was her Bday). I tagged a long with my old bosses, a co worker, Brooke, and Brookes sister in law to Apple Bees for a nice lunch. Nikki (Brookes SIL) said her work was hiring and that I should stop by for an interview. Rob (boss) paid for everyone and his joke was "I can't afford to pay you but, now I can afford to buy you lunch" lol. I said thanks and he laughed because I was so sincere in my thank you (hey free food!). I tagged along with Nikki to her work and had a quick interview. The job was with a 3rd party medical company where I would be calling hospitals/lawyers about the status of claims and such. The job paid a couple bucks more than the one I had earlier so, of course, I would have gone there. Everything went great and I felt like I had it. I learned later that day that they had chosen me. I called my other job to let the boss know I won't be able to come in tomorrow because I got offered more money but thanked him for his time. The job finding process I planned was to last at least a month (cause this economy sucks). I was excited and started calling my fam to let them know I was making the 'big' money now (a $2.25 difference). As I was talking with Wes I heard a beep and recognized the number as Tom (the first job I had called to cancel) calling. I picked up thinking he was going to yell at me or something lol. He was just curious to why I had chosen the other job. was it because of the money issue or I didn't like the work? I told him that it was basically the money but, how great the environment was at their company. While letting him know I got paid a couple of bucks more and it was a bit closer to home, he said "well, I can offer you -- ($1.75 more than the other job!!) if that makes a difference?" I tried to play it cool and calmly told him I would need to talk to my husband about it. He said he liked my personality and thought I would be great at the job. I couldn't believe it. I got a counter offer. That only happens when you get your degree and have a 3 page resume with experience out the wazoo! I felt incredible and walked around with my jaw open. I called him back about 45 min later and said- Ok, see ya tomorrow. I am so grateful I got another opportunity to succeed! I am saying more prayers about helping me be as impressive and confident as I feel right now! All I can do is dive into it head first and kick butt! Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and looking around at jobs for me in my time of need. I truly feel blessed and The Lord has looked after me! I sure am gonna miss all my buddies at The Latitude Group! <3
