Pumpkins and GOOD News!!!

We went to Tyler and Emily's to get help with some Halloween decorations.  I started with the tissue ghosts but they were turning out to be a little...well, dumb lol.  Then we moved onto painting the pumpkins (so they would last till Halloween).  The boys ended up chilling while Em and I did all the work!  These were my two pumpkins, ones a skull (my fav) and the other a green witch!  It was a lot of fun and we made smoothies and had brownies too!

Then, Sunday night we had dinner at Tyson's (Tyson has pics).  It was Josh, Susel, Baca, Janell, Tyson, Adam, and myself.  We all hadn't seen Adam in a while (he was old roommate with Tyson when we all lived in the Wright apartments) so it gave us an excuse to all have dinner and catch up.  Everyone seemed to be doing well and the food was great!  I ate about 6 COOKIES..yes 6!  It was totally worth it too.  I hadn't eaten delicious chocolate chip cookies in forever!  I also realized Janell was leaving in 2 months!  She is going back to New York to do graduate school.  I hope to see her again before she leaves.  We will all miss her!!!  We then said our good byes and went on our way home.  Knowing I couldn't sleep, I got out our Sony Reader that Baca got the other weekend.  I had already finished my first 'romance' novel and started another one.  Didn't hit the hay till midnight and accidentally turned off my alarm instead of hitting snooze button!  Oops!  I got to work an hour late this morning.

BUT!  In doing my morning work routine I applied for a couple of  jobs. I found one that wanted you to call for the information (which sometimes isn't legit).   I called the place asking some questions about it and faxed my resume. Being persistent,  I called later to double check that they got my resume.  Thankfully, I did b/c she talked more with me about it and asked me to come in.  My situation has been crazy with my last two jobs being very short due to lay offs.  It looks horrible on paper.  Once I get a chance to defend myself and recommend the employer to call my references, they end up liking me.  It was a little office downtown with the butcher shop attached.  I just walked in as the interviewer was talking with another interviewee.  After she was done with the other lady, I introduced myself.  We walked through the freezing kitchen and came into a room that was the size of my apartment.  It had about 5 desks and another small room for the sales people.  Everyone seemed very nice, I got to take a 'test' (when she mentioned that I about cried b/c I get nervous at tests and with new stuff..I have to write everything down before I get the groove)  but, it wasn't as bad as I thought.  The girl who was leaving was nice and showed me how to do some sheets.  It was more data entry and some phones.  After being there for a bit, I chatted with Jill (the interviewer/owner) as she walked me out.  She was very nice and I had a good feeling about it.  I was definitely worried about getting beaten out by a person to do it for cheap or a more qualified individual.  Later, I got a text from Brooke saying someone had called her for a recommendation.  Good sign.  Still didn't get my hopes up, who knows, she could be calling all references right?  I got another unknown number calling about an hour later, it was Jill.  She was wanting to tell me a few more things about the job (mainly about how we clean, doing some more data entry) and I easily accepted the other small responsibilites.  She then offered me the job!!  I was so grateful to have heard back from her today.  Usually, I wouldn't even get an interview and it definitely made my day.  Such a relief to not have to file for unemployment next week, to not stress how I will work with my school schedule due to no permanent work, and being able to pay bills!  I have been getting funds from the 'mom and dad unemployment center' and it eats at me every time I've had to call for cash.  It has been an extremely stressful past couple of months!

To add to the good note Baca got a PT job working at Fed Ex!  He got the job last week and it was another stress off our minds!  He did a good job, he got the job the same day he applied!  I think everything is starting to pick up for us and we can get our butts back into a good routine.  Thanks to everyone who kept our heads up!  <3
