I know I used to keep up with it! Lately has been a lot of decisions and keeping busy. Mainly, just decisions with life and trying to better myself. Ya know, the usual :P. I don't think I have blogged too much about where I am working now. I started working at a place called Majestic Meat in mid October. I mainly do a lot of data entry, phones, ect. At first, it was very stressful (still is). I was replacing a girl who had been there for five years and that EVERYONE loves (as do I). She is sweet, patient, and always willing to learn. I can say that replacing a poor worker or even a good worker is doable but, it is very hard to replace one that no one wanted to leave.
It started out when I was ending my 5 months at Beehive Plumbing (yep, only 5 months and the business was dying, and fast) and was so angry and stressed about the situation. Before Beehive Plumbing I worked at Latitude for only about 6 months, and was laid off. Of course, I didn't expect to find a job after leaving Beehive so, I felt extremely grateful I found this job a week before I was getting "laid off" at Beehive. I sent my resume and called to follow up- good thing I did because that is the only way I got it. Jill (one of my bosses) asked me about my spurts of jobs and I quickly explained why. She said to stop by for an interview, I didn't skip a beat and ran after work to find my future work place. I went in just as another lady was leaving and already knew it was one of those jobs I would probably get beaten by a more 'qualified' individual. I met the crew in the office (which would only consist of me and another co-worker, a very small office) and left on a good note prompting Jill to call my references. My feelings were mixed about my chances but, as soon as I came home I got a text from Brooke my friend and supervisor from Latitude. She mentioned she got a call for a reference. Good sign so far. Not even 20 minutes later I got a call from Jill and she offered me the job. At the time I was only working part time at the Beehive office so I left there to go to Majestic to get as much training before Michelle (the girl I was replacing) left. I can say I have come far in my attitude and work ethic with this job. I struggled a lot because of lots of mistakes and always feeling like I can never be good enough (not because of any one at work, just my own self beating me up). I am starting to get a better grasp of the job and how the holidays are hectic. Very hectic. Monday this week my other co-worker called in sick (She is an older lady who has worked there for about 6 years, her health has really gone down the drain) and in such a small office you just can't miss work. She knew that and has been trying to put off surgery till after the crazy holiday season. Poor Joanne (my co-worker) couldn't even clock in lately, and she has heart and breathing problems. They say she will come back to work in a month but, Jill and I are not too sure. Thankfully, my boss Jill and her husband Ray, are coming in to help at the office. In a way it has been kind of good, I have gotten to get to know them both and really am glad I work there. I still make mistakes yet, we are to the point where we can kind of laugh them off.
Due to the fact I have been stressed and putting in some over time trying to learn more of my job, I don't think I will make it back to school this semester. I am a little more worried about focusing on my job right now since I am the breadwinner. Trying not to beat myself up too much about it, I plan to take the dumb accuplacer and get going by next semester!! Of course school all depends on if I can get grants, that is one of my big deciding factors. Anyways! That is a taste of what my work situation is!
