Being a parent that is! I have started back at work and the first week was great. I went in and left when my other coworker arrived. So pretty much I was part time that week to get back in the swing of things. This week I started back full time, Monday and Tuesday weren't so bad. Tuesdays and Thursdays I leave around 1:30 to go pick up June. This is the highlight of my day. I get to get out a bit early and get some fresh air, then go pick up my lovely baby at my good friends house (which I am grateful, Emily takes amazing care of her!). Picking her up also gives me an excuse to hang out for a bit and say hi, then off to home and preparing for the next day.
Today was a bit harder for me. I haven't gotten a lot of sleep since the little bug tends to wake up every 3 hours at night still. She has good days where she has a 4-5 hour block (around midnight to four or so). It is nice to get woken up then! I just think about how can people do it? Work, go to school, take care of your kid, pick up your kid, drop off your kid, ect. Stress levels go through the roof and usually are taken out on the spouse. I can understand why couples struggle and even divorce sometimes.
Children can bring out the worst in some people.
I get so cranky when it comes to night time because I worry how little sleep I will be getting! We try to keep her up and let her kick out her energy, try to keep her on a schedule, and pray she will eat enough to keep her belly full and happy to sleep longer. Then off to bed after an hour of holding, swaddling, and finally putting her in the crib. The next wake up call comes and I try to keep my eyes open, try to grab her before she gets too fussy, and feed her quickly. Just as I am close to tears of frustration that its so late and how will I make it to work on time- she sits back and looks at me. Her eyes get large and she grins the biggest grin I have ever seen. Ahhh...The feeling of relief and assurance come over me and I sit and smile right back at her hoping for more.
Children can bring out the best in people.
Some of the things that amaze me and I pray to have more of:
Lately after I swaddle her and hold her before bedtime- I sing our little bird song. She actually waits for it. When I start to sing it, her eyes get heavy and start to roll back in her head. This is spectacular because my voice is pretty bad! It softens my heart to know she will fall asleep to it <3
The midnight feedings- the midnight smiles.
When I set her on the changing pad next to the window, she instantly lights up. She will stare out the window for however long she is there.
She is a pretty good baby- she will mainly cry when she is hungry or when she has wet outside her diaper. I hope this stays the same for a while!
Her cute button nose, her double chin, her skinny arms and legs, her giant belly for 2 days (she poops every 2 days) and her hairline :P
Her random coo's lately
Her kicking sessions to get her energy out, really adorable!
Bath time with daddy, rubber duckies, and me
