Our Wonderful Apartment and School Update

Baca and I have come to find that we just have a knack for ending up in places with clogging toilets and tubs. After we got married we lived in the Charleston for about 6 months having about 5 months of our tub being clogged. Our showers were short and sweet so our tub wouldn't overflow. Then we moved to a new apartment complex called Townegate. After a little while of living there our toilet had to be unclogged after every flush. We were so fet up with the place we lived with the heinous toilet for the last 3-4 months our lease there. When that fiasco with TowneGate subsided, we found a new place close to the U and in a safer area. Everything was good until our toilet started to clogg (I noticed a plunger next to the toilet when we moved in...bad omen I guess). It cloggs every other time and it has overflown a couple of times. The last time it overflowed was the worst. I had ran to pick up Baca from work and came home to a flooded bathroom. It was seeping out into the hallway and the carpet was soaked. I used all our towels to clean it up and was worried about water damage and called our old landlord (I hadn't grabbed our new ones phone yet). I left a message with no response. A couple of days later I talked to my neighbor and the same thing happened to her. We found what looked like a pipe coming out of the floor in her hallway. After getting in touch with our new landlord (this happened 3 days after he closed on the place!) he came and ripped up her carpet to find the hardwood underneath bowed so much it popped up in a v shape. They had to rip up all the wood in the hallway and I feared mine would have to have the same. (I was excited to see hardwood underneath and told the landlord it would be nice to have...it wasn't sealed or anything so it would be too much of a job to refurbish them) They made it over to our place and did the same. He brought in a big fan to dry out the sub flooring so they can patch it. It has been interesting to watch were you step b/c of exposed nails but thankfully our landlord is a good guy and is getting it done. I felt worse when Jen who lived below us came home. Her ceiling in her bathroom was soaked and dripping off. She mentioned it has happened a couple of times and I felt for her. She was gone a whole week and came home to find her place smelling like mold! I also felt bad b/c Janell and her bro were over watching The Office and Arrested Developement and I was out the whole time with the landlord and neighbors trying to find out the problem.

School starts next week and I still have the hold on my grants. I have been checking in but nothing yet. I am worried if it doesn't get appealed I am stuck paying about 3 grand for this semester. I refuse to ask for more money from my parents. A comment from Wes last night really made me think. I told Wes how lucky he was to have mom and dad drive up over a weekend from New Mexico to Colorodo just to help him move and they won't come and see me. He then replied "they already spend enough money on you". Which is true. I felt like a piece of my pride was gone. Here I was married, in college, and still asking for help from my parents. I felt frustrated and confused. I just felt crappy and useless. Ya live ya learn though. I have also tried not to just call my parents when something crappy has happened. It's pretty sad but my mom has the song "you had a bad day" as my ring tone. I have come to find that I am not yet in the EAE program. I am really scared to take classes just for that program and end up not getting in. I also got an email saying I would have to take Calculus 1 and 2. I emailed the teacher making sure that she was talking about the Fine Arts side and not the computer science side. That one kind of freaked me out. Who knows what will happen! Just gotta do what you gotta do!
